Full Oregon Red Wine Possum Moon

What the hay y'all? Where in the world did that FMA name come from? Well I'll tell you dthe truth, from David Lee, the great Texas/Utah/Oregon/American poet, he didn't like the Full Covid19 Moon  label I used for an FMA earlier in the crisis. Thank you David. He said that full moon happened on one of those rare clear NW (Oregon) nights. He enjoyed clear views all around and a great full moon rising. So he renamed our full moon! Who better than a great poet? The Full Oregon Red Wine Possum Moon. I'm afraid it is not happening here this FM, after days of that clear hazy hot humid thangie hanging over us, we will be clouded over and experiencing lots of rain this Forth of July at the 8:04pm's moon rising and on the fifth. Wait! They say... hmmmmmm, it is 2pm on saturday and not a cloud anywhere... hmmmmm. "You can never count on it raining and you can never count on it not raining in south Louisiana. Full Homegrown National Park Moon Full moon rises tonight in about an hour, sorry I'm so late. The full moon rises 10 minutes after the sun sets at about 815pm. Down here in the flat we generally have to wait another hour to see it over the trees, especially those of us who live down in amongst the bottom land hardwoods and on the flat. . Paula and I have our fire pit set up to burn while waiting for the moon to appear. We will raise a glass of tart red beverage of our choosing to all of you our friends! I choose this name for this full moon to honor the great Douglas W. Tallamy the author of Nature's Best Hope. Tallamy is a famous Entomologist, a scientist who studies insects, and a great ecologist. He first came into my sights several years ago when I became fascinated by his disclosing, to my know it all self, the numbers of insects who use oak trees or maple trees or willow trees to complete their life cycles. Hundreds of species per species of tree. Not individuals but dif...

Full Handsome Johnny Moon

This moon named for a great songwriter and poet John Prine who passed on last full moon, on the Full Covid19 Moon and he died of the covid19. John invented a high ball and named it, then sang about it, Handsome Johnny, Vodka and Ginger Ale. It has become a favorite of mine, yup, I get better looking with each one I have! Ha! John's lyrics are so cool, "Woke up this mornin to a garbage truck. Looks like this ol horseshoe done run out of luck. If I come home, will you let me in, cook me some porkchops and forgive my sin? Wow, ain't that great! full moon rises right after sunset, don't miss it! -sorry by this is final exam/grading like a mad man time for ol BT, this has been a busy, hard, hard semester, so I'll see ya'll on the flip flop peace love possumhugs BT

Full Covid19 Moon

Full Covid19 Moon I know, I know this is a soggy, poor, unimaginative name for a beautiful full moon. but look at who came up with it. AND, WHAT CHOICE DO I HAVE? Tuesday, April 7, the Full Covid19 rises just after 715pm and just before sunset at 730pm should be a grand rising, just keep in mind no snuggling or sharing wine glasses, oh yes drinking is fine. Say a prayer of good health for your fellow lunar-madness wine-drinking buddies. I will, I love you all. A Mary Lee Hahn poem about this very moon: When I Stepped Outside for My Early Morning Walk I was met by the moon,  full and bright, hanging low. Good morning , Moon, I said. What do you know? And Moon said, Glow. Few will notice fewer will care. All the more reason to always be there and glow. Waxing is joyous waning is real. Whether a sliver or the whole wheel, you glow. Find some light get in  its way reflect that light with beam or ray and glow.  Saweet Mary Lee Hahn, tha...

Full TwoFer Moon

Oh my, where does the time go? I just could not pull this thing off last month sorry (to the three of you who actually read my bull). That FMA coincided with the spring semester beginning and my online class beginning preparations. Whew! y'all technology is not my friend. Full TwoFer Moon rises Monday minutes after the sun sets, should be a fine rising y'all! Moonshine or clouds Mimi and i will raise a glass (if we can find one in our mid-renovation kitchen) of tart red to you our friends. 1-17-20 Official Arbor Day in La, third Friday in January, mark your calendars. Me n my rag tag band of beloved hippies and Geologist Dr Brian Schubert planted a Paw Paw patch in the lawn at Hamilton Hall. WoooooHoooo! Then I loaded my trusty pickup with camping gear and headed to Chicot to spend the night with BSA Troop 67, Amy's youngest and my youngest grandson Mathew's troop. They left Geismer at dark and my goal was to arrive before dark to find a place to set up and be ready. ...

Full Paw Paw Moon

This not-to-be-missed Full Paw Paw Moon will rise Friday, January 10, 2020 as the sun sets. About 530. The Gulf Rim is set for a frontal passage overnight Friday and clouds are moving in as we speak BUT we will celebrate and raise a glass of tart red 3/$20 to the unseen moon and you our friends anyway! 12-10-19 I sent the last FMA off you you guys today and within minutes Eddie B, who is always on the ball and a loyal reader, emailed back with a report of his own. At my mention of being frustrated with my people and their lack of respect for elderly trees and that I plan on planting a Paw Paw patch for Arbor Day on campus. Eddie wanted to know how big Mr Al was when we moved him (72" DBH), then Eddie moved on to tell me that he ate his first Paw Paw fruit, ever, this fall in Mississippi. Eddie's next news was not so happy, he told me that he lost is dad at Thanksgiving. Eddie declared his dad to be a great woodsman, outdoors man, conservationist, wing shot, and iron sights ...

Full Okra Moon

Yes, Full Okra! I my spare time I am reading The Whole Okra . The writer is a Smith guy I have never heard of, Chris. My favorite quote so far is "I ate so much Okra, I slid out of bed." I am planning to plant a patch this summer, eat some fresh, dry some, freeze some...did I tell you that I just love Okra? this full moon rises at sunset Wednesday and again on Thursday. Hopefully the clouds will clear enough for a good viewing. P and I will raise a glass of tart red to you our friends.   I cannot live without books. -Thomas Jefferson One thing about being the self proclaimed tree guy is that there is no shortage of stupid to fight in tree preservation. Another thing i strongly feel we should all do is plant more trees. Got my Arbor Day planting planning underway, it is the third Friday in January in Louisiana, 12-17-19, y'all. A Ginkgo, a Loquat and a Paw Paw patch!  "One generation plants the trees, another enjoys the shade". Chinese pro...
