Full Super Blue MIKIs Gone Moon

"I am looking at trees

they may be one of the things I will miss

most from the earth" W. S. Merwin "Trees"

Yes they are gone, MIKIs left my patch of lower upper St Martin last week right after our "cool snap"...

You do know they don't like cold weather...Eddie still has them where he sits on the edge of the great swamp but they are moving in the direction of the escarpment and riparian forests...I call it "staging" for migration to warmer places for winter.

This Full Moon rises Blue and magnificent today August 30 at 742, about 10 minutes after the sun sets. should be a grand colorful magnified affair.

Speaking of grand, our 55th wedding anniversary is tomorrow, Thursday. Now that day will be well celebrated as well. I'm just grateful she didn't kick me to the curb a long time ago.

8-16-23 Cool front! Well sort of anyway. Like I always say... if you pay attention there will always be that cool night in August to give us a brief break from the August heat hope for fall and winter.

-days getting shorter, sun angle changing, prep work for fall and winter in place. 10 degrees cooler today, lightning flashes over Gulf before daylight

When in July

When in July, the cicadas buzz all day, when tree frogs near the bayoupeep through the night, when crepe myrtles brighten skywith pink and pink and pink, when I walk aloneand visit the old oak tree leaning towardthe ground inviting me to join herin homageto this unceasing humid heatthat calls like the cicadasto our spirits to playlike children playrunning through sprinklers, spreading arms widelike dragonfly wings, then July leaves uswith sunflower-smiles.

8-19-23 Coop sitting on edge of one of my ground waterers, Coopers Hawk, wonderful little falconesque bird. I call them birdfeeder hawks, backyard terrorists/executioners.

8-23-23 cool front 8-16-23, no MIKIs today

sigh...

8-25-23 Biking through City Park, NI, 1 lone MIKI circling over the Bayou Teche boat launch. He will be gone tomorrow.

y'all enjoy this free event, P and I will hoist a glass of tart red to you our friends. Take the old people AND the youngsters, they need to be in on this conversation.
