Full MIKIs, what MIKIs? Moon

8-19-24 Full  Moon

8-20-24 Full Hummers are Massing Moon report, a day late and a dollar short...- couldn't think of correct words it should have been Fattening-up for the Long Journey That Migration is Moon.

8-21-22 It hit home this morning, no MIKIs calling and soaring gracefully. End of August, time for local MIKIs to move to "staging areas" around Lafayette along Prairie Escarpment and Vermilion River riparian forests to gather up in preparation to move out "en masse" to warmer points south. These guys do not like it cool or heaven forbid, cold!

8-25-24 Hummers laying on the fat reserves needed to travel long distances during migration.

I have no idea where the Purple Martins go but in NO area it is along the lake edge near the Causeway. perhaps Cypremort Point, Burns Point, there have been rumors. MIKIs do not fly over open water so they will follow the Yellow Warbler west and south along the Gulf Rim. Again, no idea about the Purple Martins.

Oops, think I called the Yellow Warbler Green Warbler in last FMA, shoots!

9-17-24 Full Supermoon, yeowser y'all. I want to haul P out to Eddie B's for a grand peek at at that wonder buy duty calls, maybe we can go a bit late... Eddie has the best viewing, of course he may not want me there...

My brother John, Doc has been bragging to Baby and I that he has 12-15 hummers swarming his place at all times. This makes my 4-5 look like a sad show. P and I are having fun with those few.

9-14-24, 1207am, I lost a sister y'all. Aunt Marie to my kids. 5th of 7 girls in a row after me in this amazing family, then Doc and Baby form the rear guard. She was great, wife, mom, sister, teacher, principal. Beautiful smile, deep strong dimples, big ol brown eyes (like a Jersey Cow). She was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease, a mean thief of a sickness. Her husband Jules lovingly cared for her daily took her places, made sure we all were with her a lot. Her decline began with her being brought to ER with a small brain bleed on Sunday before she died on Saturday. Then it was a slow decline interrupted (delayed) by Hurricane Francine which dodged Lafayette at the last second but still was a concern. Then being an organ donor things were put on hold until she was assessed and recipients were located and prepped and then Marie was allowed to slip away. We gathered as family all week in the ICU waiting room. I had the privilege of walking with her, along with the rest of her people, from her ICU room to doors of surgery for "organ harvesting", this is a first for me, being with someone as they crossed over. This is something you do not want to think about too much but we are comforted in knowing that others will benefit from her generous donation.

Funeral Saturday, next. We are looking forward to being a part of that celebration.

Get out and enjoy that Full Super moon y'all...

love y'all!!!

BT
