Full Covid-19 Moon

I call this moon Full Covid since we think we have it. P tested twice neg and me once pos so we are laying low and taking our meds. we are out of lock-down by Saturday if we behave.

The almost Full Covid-19 Moon rises as the sun sets today, calendar say tomorrie. I say almost because the My Moon Phase app  on my phone says it is 98% full and sunset and moonrise are 1-2 minutes apart. Then Saturday's rising is100% at about 30 minutes after sunset and Sunday's is 98% at about 1 hour apart. Oh my, what a perfect timepiece.she is. All three days, by the way are perfect here on the deep woods of the Teche Ridge because we cannot see the moon actually rise for an hour or so after it does pop above the horizontal because the trees are so thick to the East, even in winter with no leaves. We know it is happening, we see the light, but cannot make out the moon. If we are traveling about Friday it will be a grand sight over the cane fields, or Saturday or Sunday.

Be assured that P and I will be out admiring that big fat beauty and enjoying the night sounds and thinking of you our friends. But being under the weather we may have to delay the tart red stuff for a bit. Just a little longer, Drs orders!

8-11-22 Full Giant Skink Moon rose at sunset today

8-11-22 Eddie C dropped me a text that he had a giant skink too and sent photo of his beauty.

8-12-22 Poet Margaret Simon's birthday, she is not talking years though y'all, just the day

From Illuminate, Margarets poems about her dad John Gibson's art:

My Father's Art

Dots of ink and graphite rise in tension with paper

to form a likeness of mother and child.

The wild contrast of darks to light plays

and now a tree poem from the same book:

Dance of the Trees

I watch you watching trees.

I watch you watching those trees

outside your window in the loft.

If you could walk on the roof,

if you could walk out on that roof and touch them-

you could feel their hearts beating,

their hearts beating out the rhythm of the wind.

I watch you drawing the trees.

I watch you drawing those trees

in perfect chiaroscuro, shading just so,

just so they come alive and dance.

The trees dance in the moonlight

when you draw them.

when you draw them, God's hand moves.

God's hand is moving.

Yowser Margaret, sweet and powerful, thank you

8-13 Poet David Lee's birthday, he said something about it being number 78. Happy Birthday Dave!

8-13 Jan married Dave on this date, on his birthday, wow those women are always scheming ways to make sure we remember those dates. What a birthday present, happy anniversary Jan and Dave!

Dave, how about a poem? I just love this one, for Alisha and Jake:

Harold Rushing's Prayer While Shaving

as overheard by his son Mike

Lord, I've said this

to Suetta and the boys

but it occurs to me

that I need to repeat this upward

in a beseeching manner

I swear, Sir, I did not design

this farm on purpose

as a non profit institution

Ha! Thanks Dave, I love it!

8-31-22 JIm and P are married 54 years today. Oh wow, wait, the card, the gift! Taking her out for steak but stlll have to have rest ready. I'm good, don't worry.

8-16-22 Could be my imagination but there seem to be fewer MIKIs in Iberia/Lower Upper St Martin these days. MIKI kids all out of nest and flying pretty good, lots of joyful noise for a while, now they seem almost gone. Well, you know how they hate even the hint of cool, never much cold. My feeling is that they are massing/staging in Lafayette along the Vermilion River's big trees or the Escarpment Terrace or Coteau trees in preparation for moving south to warmer times.

8-22-22 First day of classes. I'll be scrambling to keep up for a while now. My Secretary, Nadean who I thought liked me, scheduled 8am classes every day. I really love that early start and in her defense she did pass this schedule by me before submitting it.

9-2-22 Lunch wiht Eddie C to admire his Giant skink and examine and pray on his sick live oak. Great lunch and a great visit. His wife Fay is a fine and interesting person. Sad declining tree though, We'll figure it out Eddie.

9-5-22 Went to bed feeling like less.

9-6-22 Taught 2 of 3 classes then went home

9-7-22 Tested positive, worked out great, I have shuffled my schedule around a bit, and by Tuesday I should be  back on track, my lock down ends Saturday. P tested Neg 2X, go figger, good living I guess. Some might say she just too mean to get it.

9-8-22 Not a MIKI about my rectangle of God's green earth. Must be true.

Good night y'all...

Peace love possumhugs
