Full John Prine Moon
Full John Prine Moon rises as the sun sets today and tomorrow. The calendar says that Saturday is the Full Moon, wow, two night of white light, yay!
I teach a lab class. ENVS 151, plant science lab. Monday afternoon, 2-4pm. I teach it as a organic gardening class since I figure almost everything you need to learn about plants you can learn in the garden and my students really enjoy the process. This semester I have 17 young people, and one old guy (me). On February 7 one of my guys showed up in a John Prine shirt, and I love John Prine, that initiated a lively conversation and it turns out he was a bigger fan than I. He was also a guitar player and singer so I challenged him to fill the first time slot in class next week. He asked if he could come on Feb 21 instead, to give him time to practice. I said sure. He did and was amazing and fun, we all sat spellbound and clapped for our classmate, who was already admired and liked by all. He played three JP songs that day. By Saturday, March 7, he was dead. No one is saying what happened but we are all in shock and very, very sad.
2-22-22 Speaking of two's today is Twosday! And at 2:22pm it is Very Twosday.
2-27-22 P and I hooked up Ruby and headed to Tickfaw State Park. When We arrived we realized that Hurricane Ida had done a job on Tickfaw. The park looked like a war zone, trees down all over. We decided to make the best of our camp time.
3-1-22 Campfire tonight was the best Spring Peeper chorus, Barred Owl concert and Lightning Bugs all over light show(my bud Chuck calls them Fire Flies but he ain't from here).
3-15-22 Great overnight rain, more than an inch, Mimi said that it was a toad strangler and a ditch filler. It has been a while since we have had real rain.
3-17-22 St Paddy's day. My buddy Griff, who I like to describe as an old hippy, a wonderful environmentalist who influenced so many young lives in a very positive way, was born today, the greenest day of the year, he liked to point out.
Chuck and P both reported the arrival of the RTHBs today, Ruby Throats, our summer hummer. Chuck said he could tell they were fresh arrivals by the smell of Tequila on their breath. This is the historic arrival date for this migrant in our area.
3-18-22 Today we are so close to the Equinox you can't even tell that you are not quite there and that, all by itself, is very cool.
I don't have it in me this month to write more, see you next cycle...
Y'all get out an enjoy the cool evening and the Full John Prine Moon. I'll raise a glass of tart red to you my friends.
peace love possumhugs
