Full Nekid Ladies Moon
Yup, the Nekid Ladies, Lycoris radiata are up in my yard. Lycoris, seems like it happened overnight, some call them magic lilies, as they emerge all at once in August. Some believe are named after the Roman actress and mistress of Marc Antony. Some call them Hurricane Lilies since we are in the heat of the season. Reality is that the common name comes from the blooms that appear on naked stems unadorned by foliage, the winter foliage come in October and November after booming is long over. In Steve Bender and Felder Rushing's fine book 'Passalong Plants', right between Moon Vine and Walking Iris stand the Naked Ladies, right where they are supposed to be. Now, I call them Nekid Ladies because it sounds naughty. P say "You know what's the difference between Naked and Nekid? In both you have no clothes on, but if you're Nekid your having fun!" Yup, that what P say! Got that Dog?
Full Nekid Ladies Moon happens Monday night, September 24, just after sunset when we have this fine moonrise real close to 7pm. Be there or be square! Mimi and I will sip a bit of tart red and raise the glass to you our friends and this Full Moon, even though this is a school night and 5am comes early round here. Get your fine kids out along with the Fam Elders, unplug them all and see if they can manage to talk to each other while waiting for this month's happening. Y'all, now you be sure to drink responsibly.

8-26-18 We experienced two back to back magnificent Full Squirrel Tree Frog Moon risings accompanied by two equally spectacular sunsets, oh wow!
Throwing Away The Mail
Nothing is simple,
not even simplification.
Thus, throwing away
the mail, I exchange
the complexity of duty
for the simplicity of guilt.
Thank you Wendell Berry!
8-27-18 Frogs on bedroom and kitchen windows early this am, 7 each. P wishes they would go away because they mark up the glass with their sticky little toes and bellies.
8-28-18, 7 frogs...
8-29-18, 5 frogs...
8-30-18, 4 frogs...
Hey P, be careful what you wish for! Looks as though a frog predator has found our bounty.
Whoa! No MIKI, no MIKI calling for a week or two, I think, where did they go? Migration already?!!!
8-31-18 50th wedding anniversary for Mimi and I. Big celebration next weekend...Let the party begin! YAY! OK y'all now we start working on 51.
9-1-18 Dinner at a fancy restaurant, my date was gorgeous in a pretty black dress, a real traffic stopper!
9-3-18 Labor Day, we labored in yard all day, catching up, rain late, sweet!
9-8-18 Big party put on by our children, we rented the Bayou Teche Trading Post in New Iberia, a fine place to celebrate, Maggie Rose sang to her people, food was outstanding, plenty to drink, company was the best! Thanks y'all!
9-9-18 We drove Anna and her dad Jake to NO airport so they can fly back home for school and job. I noted a plethora pink on the roadsides of marshy sections of US90 a bounty of Salt Marsh Mallow, Kosteletskya virginica, a hibiscus relative that blooms small and clear bright pink and in huge clouds of flowers. WOWser y'all! Butterfly heaven too.
How about a Margaret Poem? Written today and posted on her blog on 9-11:
September
There is a slight shift of sunlight.
There is a browning
of cypress needles.
There's a going back
to earth
to soil
happening
mysteriously
gradually.
We forget to notice
until it's too late
and there are piles
of leaves
to rake.

9-21-18 Big wedding tonight Kris is getting married, a young architect friend, been knowing him since he was quite young. In the old church in St. Martinville, very cool. Sqirrel Tree Frogs are back in old numbers, they must have been on vacation.
My ol bud Skipper stopped in to say hi, what a joy that was, he always makes me feel better.
9-22-18 Happy Autumnal Equinox y'all. Night and Day equal! beginning of Fall. AND Jake and Alisha married each other in the old country chapel at the intersection of the Coteau Terrace and St. Martin Parish and Iberia Parish line. These two fine folk farm together northwest of the Best Stop in Scott, cut flowers and veggies. They are awesome now before they are married. Go meet them at the Horse Farm Farmer's Market on Saturday Mornings.
A Meeting
In a dream I meet
my dead friend. He has,
I know, gone long and far,
and yet he is the same
for the dead are changeless.
They grow no older.
It is I who have changed,
grown strange to what I was.
Yet I, the changed one,
ask:"How you been?"
He grins and looks at me.
"I been eating peaches
off some mighty fine trees."
Wendell Berry
Now y'all go out and enjoy that amazing moon show!
See you on the flip side my friends,
peace love possumhugs...
