Oh my, yes, it happened, again! Big Ol Bad Alabama beat the pants off of our poor little LSU football team, IN TIGER STADIUM ("Death Valley" isn't that what they call it Dog?)! What? Again? I think it is so funny. I told my students that at least sad little ol second rate UL Ragin Cajuns scored on Bammer TWICE this "rebuilding" season! Oh my, sigh! Groan. Yes, GRATEFUL, I have so much to be grateful for, a pretty, loving wife, loving family, friends, fab job that I am absolutely thrilled to go to each day and this wonderful, amazing, big blue, wet marble we live on, hacked and torn and beat up it is, but no less awe inspiring, and my brothers and the time i get to spend with them. I am grateful to David Lee for teaching the poetry writing workshops that took the mystery out of putting my thoughts down on paper and giving me permission to lay it out there for other folks to read. Yup, the Nekid Ladies, Lycoris radiata are up in my yard. Lycoris, seems like it happened overnight, some call them magic lilies, as they emerge all at once in August. Some believe are named after the Roman actress and mistress of Marc Antony. Some call them Hurricane Lilies since we are in the heat of the season. Reality is that the common name comes from the blooms that appear on naked stems unadorned by foliage, the winter foliage come in October and November after booming is long over. In Steve Bender and Felder Rushing's fine book 'Passalong Plants' , right between Moon Vine and Walking Iris stand the Naked Ladies, right where they are supposed to be. Squirrel Tree Frog, Hyla squirrella is overrunning my world. I'm not complaining, I'm actually overjoyed. This "Frog Plague" of biblical proportions, has gifted me with an outstanding opportunity. You see I have these five young ladies in my life, Mya, Emma, Anna, Maggie Rose, and Maddie. Ranging in age from 12 to 17 they have begun distancing themselves from my foolishness and the embarrassing things grandfathers do. So I have started a text group with them sending them cool photos of 10 Squirrel Tree Frogs plastered to my bedside window as I prepare to hit the hay or a huge Orb Weaver Spider on a fresh kill hanging from a new web on the way to their Mimi's fancy car. 7-23-18 Greeting to all my friends and relatives, Looks like I may make it after all! My leg is straight again, I'm walking well, taking the stairs, riding my bike. Sleep is disrupted by pain but that too shall pass. I'm not out of the woods yet, but I can see the edge of the trees and the opening beyond. I see the light, I see the light! Today, March 31, 2018 is the next full moon. It is also the 71st birthday of someone we know and love. Yup, yup, yup Ol Poss is gittin up there!
