Full Nekid Ladies Moon

Yup, the Nekid Ladies, Lycoris radiata are up in my yard. Lycoris, seems like it happened overnight, some call them magic lilies, as they emerge all at once in August. Some believe are named after the Roman actress and mistress of Marc Antony. Some call them Hurricane Lilies since we are in the heat of the season. Reality is that the common name comes from the blooms that appear on naked stems unadorned by foliage, the winter foliage come in October and November after booming is long over. In Steve Bender and Felder Rushing's fine book 'Passalong Plants' , right between Moon Vine and Walking Iris stand the Naked Ladies, right where they are supposed to be. Now, I call them Nekid Ladies because it sounds naughty. P say "You know what's the difference between Naked and Nekid? In both you have no clothes on, but if you're Nekid your having fun!"
